The Computer Science and Engineering Department is the most versatile department of college and caters to the needs of other departments as well. The department aims at developing the fundamental conceptual knowledge along with the total personality, which helps computer engineers to face the challenges of rapidly changing software industry. Technical skills, teamwork and specialized knowledge prepare these young engineers to adopt and continuously learn new technologies. Regular updation and expansion of the labs is done as per the requirement of the industry. Exposure to latest developments and technologies is a mandatory exercise for both faculty and students. Continuous research work and live projects are taken up by the department. Numerous professional activities are conducted to improve interaction between students, faculty, other academic institutions and industries.

The faculty is fully committed to provide quality education to the students and in turn groom themselves professionally.

The curriculum in Computer Science & Engineering Department involves basic sciences and engineering subjects at the FirstYear level.  In Second year &Third year the core courses of Computer Science and Engineering like Data Structures, Foundation of Computer Science, Multimedia, Microprocessors and Applications, Computer Architecture and Algorithm Design & Analysis, are offered.  In the final year advanced courses of Computer Engineering like Network Technology, Robotics, Compilers, Digital Image Processing , Mobile Communications, and Embedded systems are offered.

 The Mission of the Department is:

• To promote convergence of knowledge,  information, technology and skills.

• To develop Computer Science and Engineering Students with a global perspective.

• To ensure total personality development of would be engineers

• To  impart specialized knowledge and skills to the students in the field of computers and information technology.

• To work in collaboration with other institutions/ industries.

The department has an intake of 60 students in each year of B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering Programme.

 The department has reasonably well equipped laboratories for conducting practicals for all the courses of B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering.

Emphasis is given to

• Exposure to new softwares so that students can adopt to current needs of the industry.

• Continued expansion and diversification of various laboratories.

• Development of live projects by the students and improving the programming skills of students.

• Strengthening of research and project development.

• Faculty development and training.

 A salient feature of the academic activities in the Department is that the students as well as the faculty members are provided with ample opportunities for their professional growth. Every year, numerous professional activities are held in  the deptt. Industrial visits, Expert lectures from industry form an integral part of the curriculum.Students are encouraged to become members of important professional bodies like IEEE and CSI.A student chapter of CSI is already active.

The department of CSE has conducted the following FDPs and Workshop in the last two years (2010 and 2011).

•  “Mobile Architecture and Programming for ARM processors”, a two day seminar organized on 12th -13th March 2010.

•  “Mobile Device Programing and Its applications”, a six week summer training program for students organized from 31-5-2010 to 7.7.2010 in collaboration with Nokia, Bangalore and Finland

•  “Multimedia Programming and Graphics Design”, a workshop organized on 17th – 18th Sept. 2010 in Collaboration with Adobe.

•  “Data Mining - Research Issues, Recent Trends & PASW Modeler 12.0® based Implementation” , a two day workshop organized on 4th & 5th March 2011 in Collaboration with SPSS®.

•  “Mobile Applications and Programming”, a four week summer training program is being organized in collaboration with Nokia University Relations w.e.f. 12.6.2011 to 09.07.2011.
