The University Information Resource Centre came into existence in September 1999 with the objectives to acquire, preserve and make available print, non-print and electronic resources to support the academic, institutional and intellectual needs of the University School of Studies. It started with a small collection of five hundred books but had a rapid growth and has been developed as an Information Resource Centre. In fact, right from its inception, the plan was not to develop it as just a traditional library but to develop it as a real Information Resource Centre providing onsite and online access to information. To keep in time with this objective, the University Library was renamed the University Information Resource Centre (UIRC) and is being developed on modern lines.
Collection Development:
The UIRC started with 2000 documents purchased by different schools. In the first year of its start, it built up all the leading reference sources viz. Encyclopedia Britannica, Kirk Othmer Encyclopaedia of Chemical Technology and many others. It was the first university in India to develop a good collection of reference sources in its first year itself. From the year 2000, collection of print and non-print documents has grown up to 92,992 (physical collection) in the year 2024. From the year 2009, e-books collection has grown up to 22,139 in the year 2024. From the year 2005, e-Journals collection has grown from 3,547 to 17,609 in the year 2024, including subscription of 15 online databases and e-resources. 722 PhD eThesis have been uploaded on ShodhGanga portal of INFLIBNET.
The latest addition to its collection is subscription to Bloomsbury’s Visual Arts Hub, Turnitin Originality Check (TOC)-Enterprise Subscription with AI detection and MyLOFT My Library on Finger Tips: a remote access tool for all students of USSs.

During 2010-11, UIRC shifted from Kashmere Gate Campus to newly built Dwarka Campus India’s first net zero energy design in centrally located four storied architectural marvel interconnected with academic blocks, with a chilled beam centrally air conditioning system infused with state of the art technology, motion sensor LED light and IT infrastructure.
