Courses Offered

B. Tech. Programme

The school offers a 4 year (8 semester) B. Tech. programme in biotechnology. The students who have done 10+2 with physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology are eligible for this programme. Admission to the B.Tech. programme is done strictly on the basis of merit adjudged through an All India Common Entrance Test. The application intake ratio has been highly competitive, being 1 intake per 130 applications. The total intake of students is restricted to 45 per year.

M. Tech. Programme

The School began with a five and a half year integrated B.Tech./M. Tech. course however, from the academic session 2004-2005 onwards, the M.Tech. programme has been delinked from B.Tech. programme and the two programmes are being offered under dual degree programme.

Ph. D. Programme

We have a strong research programme in various disciplines of biotechnology like agricultural, environmental, industrial, biomedical and pharmaceutical biotechnology. Applications for Ph.D. admission are invited throughout the year and are screened by the School Research Committee (SRC), comprising an experienced team of faculty members. The applicants are required to submit a research proposal keeping in mind the ongoing research programs. After pre-screening, the aspirants are assessed through an oral presentation in the SRC for their knowledge in the subject area as well as their objectives, methodology and research plan. The applications of short listed candidates are recommended to the Board of Studies (BOS) for approval and provided admission accordingly. Students are evaluated after every six months and allowed to continue based on their performance.
